Day 2

Today’s highlights were a guided tour of the Fremantle Prison and visiting the National Maritime Museum.  The latter’s external design is to simulate an upturned dinghy.

The highlights were the Emden-Sydney 1914 naval engagement and the Australia America’s Cup victory.  They also showed the live sheep trade as you can see from the picture.

Fremantle is a very attractive place with its extensive sandstone architecture in a lovely setting.  The streetscape is confusing and although I was never lost I was geographically embarrassed several times.
The Italian food has been spectacular and there are so many Italian restaurants around as there were many migrants who settled here more than 100 years ago.

The next update will be when we are in Colombo.

  1. Yes, Fremantle is interesting. We are glad to see that you ware enjoying the Italian cuisine already. How is traveling on the high seas? Have you met the captain and are the historians interesting? We are really looking forward to the next instalment.
