Day 5 Paris 21 April 2018

After an Indiana Jones like experience to find our breakfast location, due to extensive renovations, most of the people at breakfast are Asian so they’re the new face of tourism.  We met some of our tour buddies at breakfast, both teachers Helen – retired (Port Macquarie) and Sue (Canberra). In fact of the seven people 5 are/were teachers. Our tour guide Rod is an ex-Grenadier Guards Sergent-Major. We met our other tour buddies and we had a bit of a morning tour in our 8 seater Mercedes.  We saw so little traffic around the Arc d’ Triomphe being Sunday morning – this was in stark comparison to 2015. You just have to remember to give way to the right.

We bought some lunch and went to this nearby park Pablo-Casals (see picture).  8 Celsius + April + enchanting park + pastries = Paris in April.

We did find this sign in the park.

The statue is a smaller version of the original one in New York. This is 100m from our hotel.

The Statue of Liberty is in the middle ground, can you find it?

After lunch we had an evening bateaux (boat) ride in the Seine.  It was too early to be dark, c’mon it is 8.30PM it’s gotta get dark eventually! The food was nice and we met another group of Australians in the boat who are also attending ANZAC Day.

The entrance to our currently being renovated hotel isn’t that comforting.
