Day 36 3 September New York

Today we spent the day at the Metropolitan Museum which was very good indeed. In parts it was probably better than the British Museum.

This is the bedroom of Agrippa Postumus who was a grandson of Emperor Augustus.

They had a wing that encased an entire Egyptian temple.
The Temple of Dendur which Egypt gifted to the US in 1967,

They would project on the side what the temple would have originally looked like.

We were worried it was going to be busy, but it didn’t seem to be.

I would give the Met 9 out of 10, just behind the British Museum.

Rembrandt's self-portrait.

Possibly an artistic highlight, a huge painting of "Washington Crossing the Delaware".

This evening, we went to a Broadway show, “Chicago” at the Ambassador Theatre. It was excellent but very little leg room. Boy those people can sing! Times Square afterwards was amazingly busy, we can only imagine that everyone came out of the theatres at the same time.
