Day 37 4 September New York

Today we spent the day at the Natural History Museum which was very good indeed. In parts it was probably better than the British Museum in the dinosaur department.

"He's behind you."

There was an immersive light display, titled "Hidden Worlds" which simulated cell activity and the creation of life. The little kids went nuts. The photos do not do it justice.

These were meant to be plant roots.

Impressive and very realistic animal displays.

The dinosaurs were very popular.

In the elephant display they would project skeletons or internal organs on its side, so it was very well done.

The dinosaur skeleton was so long they had its head poking out of the doorway, which was clever.

Komodo dragons eating a boar. They are big and scary.

Aztec astrological calendar.

Can you spot the porcupine?
Their rock and gem collection appeared to be superior to that in the British Museum.

Artefacts from the Pacific Northwest.
Life in the Oceans.

A Sea Otter who looks like he is about to munch into a sea urchin...yum.

We were worried it was going to be busy, but it wasn't too bad. I loved the sign, but I don't think it was intentional.
