Day 25 Sunday 18 June 2017

This morning we are off to Butchardt Gardens and it is overcast and wet. Despite the inclement weather it wasn’t too bad, as it did not rain heavily, most of the time it was mostly a light mist. It was, as it turned out, a good day to go, less crowded with some lovely effects of rain droplets on the flowers and foliage. The photographs do not do the place justice.

Here Elizabeth is on the bridge in the Japanese garden.  Bridge over the River...

The seaplane float ride is off today due to the weather and we took the whale watching option.

We saw humpback whales and a large family of killer whales. We can now tell the difference between males, females and juveniles by looking at their dorsal fin.

One of the humpbacks breached which unusual for this part of the world. I only managed to photograph the resultant splash. It was a little cool out on the water but worth it. and so calm.

Can you spot the humpback in this last photo?

We had dinner in The Old Spaghetti Factory with Charles and Leslie.  It was packed and we had to wait 25 minutes but the service was excellent, as was the food. So for $25 each you had a three course meal that included drinks and coffee. Bargain.
