Day 26 Monday 19 June 2017

We are off to Whistler today which is a ski resort north of Vancouver.  We see the world's largest hockey stick - FINALLY my life is complete.

We leave Vancouver Island by ferry and land at Horseshoe Bay, north of Vancouver.  Ironically, Vancouver is not on Vancouver Island.  We can see this major city of 2.1 million in the distance from the ferry.

What we see is a flooded glacial valley from our bus and we stopped en-route at Shannon Falls.

In winter, climbers use the frozen falls to climb up…eeek.  You can see the temperate rainforest with its profusion of moss.

After our arrival in the afternoon at the Fairmont Chateaux Whistler, we had a Black Bear talk from local expert Michael Allen.  The talk was excellent and very informative. There are 150 000 Black Bears in British Columbia alone.

That night we had an excellent dinner in the restaurant.  I had the halibut while Elizabeth had half a chicken (unsure if left, right, front or back) with fabulous desserts to finish off with.
