Today we crossed the Portuguese border to reach
Porto, situated on the River Douro and celebrated internationally as the
capital of Port wine. We climbed the bridge to take some photographs which was our exercise for the day.
We then
had a port making and tasting tour at the Sandeman Wineries. Who would have thought that you could have a white port.
The vats are raised up for temperature control and underneath is painted white so leaks can be readily identified.
Porto seems to be a lovely city of bridges, boats and booze with sardines as their signature dish.
