We left Lisbon via the modern Tagus Bridge and
crossed the border to reach Seville. We visited the immense cathedral to see
the Tomb of Christopher Columbus and the slender Giralda Tower, the former
minaret of the Great Mosque.
We explored the labyrinthine Santa Cruz (Sacred
Cross) Quarter and saw the Alcazar.
In the evening, we visited the Plaza Espana which was built for the 1929 Exposition. It has a moat on one side where people can boat along it and the four bridges representing the four old kingdoms.
Later, we enjoyed an extensive tapas meal (8 courses) with a horse and buggy ride. We felt sorry for our horse as it was a big distance for them to go, as the size of their engine is only 1 horse power (obviously). It was good value as the horses went such a long way. Our horse was named Marguerite.
