We had a walking and bus tour of some Church of St Matthais
with views over the city. There After ta
there was a bus tour and a piano and organ recital by a Hungarian Professor for
us in a blind school.
We visited the Square of Heroes, which commemorates the
glories of their past generals and victories.
An impressive area and it was surrounded by some quite interesting
buildings. Their national museum is
closed for renovation for a couple of years, not that we had time to see it.
We had a leisurely lunch and went for a short walk.
We left Budapest to go up the Danube tonight. After tea
Elizabeth suggested that we go up on deck and luckily we did as there perched
high on a bluff was the cathedral of Eztergomy which holds 8000 people and is
the largest one in Hungary and this place was once the seat for Hungarian
kings. We were surprised that they
didn’t make an announcement in the general areas.
