Our first full day in Bruges, started with purchasing a Bruges
card giving us free admission to the museums.
We started with the Historium which was a clever multi-media
presentation using sight, sound and indeed…should I say smell…which showed medieval
Bruges of 500 years ago.
We then moved on to the Chocolate Museum, but with a huge
school group who went in before us so we went to the Belgian Fries Museum instead,
which was surprisingly educational and interesting. Who would have thought it was a Belgian
rather than a French invention so it should have been called ”Walloon Fries”.

An unfortunate image of the Chocolate Museum. it did get better.
The Chocolate Museum was quite interesting, although their AV
film was a bit ordinary but they did give us free chocolate. After McLunch we set off again visited the
Town Hall Museum and their Liberty of Bruges Room Museum and the Basilica of
the Sacred Blood where they claim they have the blood of Christ. The Town Hall Council chamber was done in a Neo-Classical
style certainly had a WOW factor. It was
nice to think that would still happen after everything we have seen.
We visited the Groeninge Museum and saw a Van Eyck painting as
well as some other quite nice artwork, important in the development of the Flemish
Primitive art style. In one day we saw
six museums and one church, this must be a new record for us.

Pinting rfom the museum.
If you are interested we see that some YouTube clips are appearing
showing Waterloo 2015.
Saw the most disturbing footage on the ABC website showing a near miss for Kedron SHS students. Thank goodness, as they were only a fraction of a second from being seriously injured or worse.
