Day 88 18 June 2015 Amsterdam-Brussells

Yes, I can spell Van Gogh correctly (most of the time).
We could sleep in today until 7AM – woo hoo!! We took a taxi to the train station and despite almost getting on to the wrong train, we had a scenic three hour train journey that took us through a scenic countryside where we had glimpses of The Hague, Rotterdam and Antwerp.   In a couple of these cities we would see quite a large mosque that indicates the diversity of the country.

Skyline of The hague, mosque outside of Rotterdam and a Cathedral/church in Antwerp.

Arriving in Brussels we booked in our 8th floor hotel room with fantastic views over the city, we had thought we had seen most of the good stuff but we were wrong. Unfortunately at night there are almost no lights on so no scenic night views. Tomorrow is the first day of the re-enactment of Waterloo and we can also visit the encampments. The weather isn’t going fantastic overcast with a high chance of rain.

Atomium (from the World Expo 1958) - the big silver structure.

There has been a bit in the news here with the new Hougoumont memorial that Prince Charles opened yesterday; and today there was an official commemoration of the battle as it occurred today 200 years ago.
