Day 87 17 June 2015 Amsterdam

We had a sad farewell with our cruise buddies this morning and we had a taxi driver of Moroccan background who was most helpful.  We left our bags at our hotel JL 76 which was very close to the National and the Van Gogh Museums.  There was a short but slow queue to go into the Van Gough museum but we preferred to avoid these.  Although we had trouble locating where to buy tickets we enjoyed our visit. Luckily there was no queue so we could go straight in. We looked at the paintings of Rembrandt, Vermeer a few Van Goghs and a few other knick knacks. They had a Waterloo collection that had a painting of Waterloo that I hadn't seen before by a Dutch painter who was quite nice in minimizing Wellington' nose.

Outside the museum with some modern art in a fountain...OK...

Some gold knick knacks.

Above: the Night Watchman by Rembrandt, the Great Hall and part of their maritime display.

The museum was quite good.  We visited the flower market to try to meet our cruise buddies for lunch but we missed them.  We had tea at our hotel that was quite OK and went for a walk through the park to walk it off. There were groups of guys playing soccer and it may have been either Rugby League or Rugby Union but I couldn't quite tell from their footy drills, I think it was league as they were teaching them how to wrestle on the ground, We had a few drops of rain but we managed to escape getting wet.
