Going down the Rhine through the Lorelei
Marksburg Castle (where we had dinner)
and she hasn't eaten. She did get up for breakfast and several people came over to our table to see how she was. Some others are not that well either, we call it ‘kennel cough”.
This morning Elizabeth stayed on board while I took the
opportunity to take photos of St Hildagard and to climb up the hill to the Germania
Monument. This large monument commemorates
the reunification of Germany in 1871.
The first 3/4 was easy but the climb became a little steeper.
We had a lovely BBQ lunch and afterwards we cruised through
the Rhine Gorge where the scenery was quite spectacular with lots of castles.
Tonight we had a tour and a medieval dinner at the Marksburg
castle overlooking the Rhine. Elizabeth
was quite brave and came along and she managed to survive. There were lots of narrow stairs and nooks and crannies but the tour was very informative. The food was OK, especially if you liked drinking mead and eating hard black bread - yummy! The entertainment was
good and they involved some unfortunate passengers. One fellow Adam is a ambo from Aramac who is one cool dude. He is a biker with long hair and a lot of charisma - he is a funny guy and they had him help with a young girl doing gymnastics. It was very funny indeed! They had a fire juggler for us when we left.
We are due to leave Koblenz at 2.00AM tonight and we arrive in Cologne
tomorrow.
