We had an early start, way too early apparently, as our Eurostar train was
delayed so we could have slept in. Arriving at St Pancreas Station, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary. We had rain on the way to our apartment and it was only
a few hundred metres, it seemed longer having never been there and the rain did not help.
We relaxed to take stock and had a cup of tea. We took the opportunity as the weather had lifted to visit the British Library which was incredibly close to us. No photographs but it was incredible to see a copy of the Gutenberg Bible, a letter from Queen Elizabeth I, the Magna Carta and Lord Byron`s shopping list (one of these may not be true). We enjoyed a cup of coffee but we discovered that a lost of the currency we had was out of date. We will try to exchange it at he bank but apparently we have to go to the Bank of England to do so.
We then zoomed off to the British Museum but because it was getting toward closing time we only saw the Parthenon wing...ooh and the Rosetta Stone.
