After a relaxed start, we passed on the kippers and black pudding. One
of the waiters mentioned that they have funny accents in York. (It was funny
because he seems to be a Yorkshireman himself. We arrived in York in glorious
sunshine. We embarked on a walking tour of York, through the shambles and
narrow streets, Betty’s CafĂ©.
We walked along the original Roman wall. The Romans built it originally but the Vikings, Anglo-Saxons and added to it.
The Yorkshire Army Museum. isn't opened on a Monday but because it was the Bank holiday weekend it was indeed opened!
Between the museum and hotel is a pair of nesting geese. Someone does put out a container of water for the female which is nesting in the raised garden while the male stands guard and attacks anyone who gets too close. Houra of amusement.

Opposite the hotel is Clifford Tower. It was built by William the
Conquerer, not personally mind you, otherwise I imagine he would be called
William the Concreter. The tower has a checked past indeed.
The Jews of the town went there for protection but were surrounded and then then burnt alive.
Charming.
