We promptly arrived at the designated hotel at 7.30 AM. We met another
lass there, a teacher Karen from the Gold Coast. The short version of the story
is that we were at the wrong hotel. I had rung them twice because the first
hotel we were told did not exist. The next one at Victoria Station did exist.
There were a couple of other Insight ours that did indeed leave from there and
despite the presence of an Insight representative being there she was unhelpful
and despite making a phone call whoever she rang never rang her back. As a result out tour had to detour and come
to this hotel so it inconvenienced both the tour director and the tour because
either the people aren’t trained or their command of English isn’t good enough.
Oxford walking tour some of the spots and walked down to the river
Cherwill which was quite picturesque.
After lunch in Oxford we travelled on to Stratford-On-Avon. We saw
where Shakespeare was born and grew up. His family house was much larger and
his father was a glove maker. Obviosly in Romeo and Juliet the line where Romeo
says is an obvious and rather blantant example of product placement.
We thought of our nephew William’s birthday today, we almost bought him
a shirt with Will Power emblazoned in large letters on it with a list of
Shakespeare’s work on the front. We thought about buying it for him but we
decided to use the money to eat ice cream and crisps instead.
