Today we did the Guinness factory tour and it was quite good. It was a very
slick presentation and we had views over Dublin.
To promote the beer in the 1930s, they had an advertising campaign involving animals including the famous toucan.
Here is a view of the Wellington monument from the sky bar.

We then had a bus tour that showed us several highlights, including
Phoenix Park the largest urban park in a European city. Here is the Wellington monument and big
crucifix where the Pope addressed the 1+ million faithful in 1979.
We went to Trinity College which is across the road from our hotel. We
went to see The Book of Kells which is a magnificent illustrated medieval
gospel book. It was created between the 6-9th centuries. It was
excellent. It is exhibited below the Long Room or library which is truly a
masterpiece.
We then investigated the National Archaeological Museum and the
National History Museum. The latter is a very Victorian museum in its layout
and presentation but they are due to replace it with a new facility. Dublin has
monuments and historical sites and buildings.
