This morning we had a walking tour of Londonderry with Ronan who is
Chinese-Malaysian Irish Buddhist. He was excellent in explaining the problems
and perspectives of the opposing sides in the troubles. We drove past the political graffitti. We walked along the
city walls that will celebrate their 400 year anniversary in October this year.
This year was also the 20 anniversary of the 1998 Peace Accords to bring an end to The Troubles. and
later this month is the anniversary of the surrender of 68 the German WW2
U-Boat fleet in May 1945. The war had been good for Londonderry economically as well as the Catholics and protestants forgot their differences. At the height of The Troubles unemployment was running at 30%
Guild Hall.
In Donegal for a lunch of soup and coffee and walked through he cemetery.
Then on to the surprisingly interesting Belleek Pottery. They have been making pottery for 161 years. Some of the basket pottery is so finely done.
This public area sign seems to cover most scenarios.

Some scenes from the Darty Range which is a table top mountain as we head to Sligo in bright sunshine.
