Left early to catch the erstwhile named Jonathan Swift ferry that will
take 2-2½ hours to Holyhead, Wales. The
trip will be an opportunity to catch up on the blog. Ireland was quite OK
without being too spectacular. We won’t be returning. We visited the train
station with the longest name. We stopped for lunch in a tiny
picturesque town of Conwy. We enjoyed a local pasty/pastie.
The castle is on the right. Below is an example of repurposing. In Ireland they are the same except in green.
Finished with a walking tour of Chester in which we saw very old
original Tudor buildings as well as the Roman amphitheatre as Chester was originally
1st Century AD Roman settlement.
We went into the very interesting Chester Cathedral. The old town is quite nice. I particularly like the Slug and Lettuce eatery. With pubs here just put together two animals or objects and you Have the name of your pub. Try Aphid and Clown or Muskox and Chicken,,,just let your imagination run wild.
At the amphitheatre there was a Roam guide pulling into line a school group.
After arriving at our very Victorian style hotel, we had a free drink across the road at the pub and a meal at our hotel. The hotel is very kitchy, too much neo-classical, Grace-Roman object d'art.
