We stopped today for lunch in the charming village of Ludlow which still has Tudor buildings. Our
excellent spell of good weather seemed to be at an end with rain in Cardiff but
apart from a few sprinkles and overcast skies, we escaped.
We managed to walk around the castle which didn't seem to have much left intact. Below is a captured heavy Russian gun, probably a 20pdr but the gun carriage was not original. It was easy to spot, Russian cyrillic writing and the twin headed eagles of the Romanovs. It was these type of guns that were melted down to make the original Victoria Crosses. That is until the supply ran out.

Once in Cardiff, we
visited Cardiff Castle and its military museum. It is one of the best
preserved Norman castles. It included tunnels from WW2.
Whilst in the complex, we visited the military museum and had a guided tour through the Victorian renovated sections.
For dinner we were on
our own and we went Italian and it was excellent.
