Day 37 29 April 2015 Sorrento and Pompeii

Out of order Pompeii was just before arriving in Rome.
This was our last shore excursion.

We went to Sorrento on the Amalfi coast through winding coastal road with with lovely sea views.  Sorrento is very busy with crowded narrow streets but it does have charm.  Elizabeth quite liked it but I thought it was too crowded and it's not even the high season. We went into this furniture store that had some of the most beautiful pieces and a very extensive chess set collection.

Pompeii was quite impressive to walk on a road where chariots and wagon wheels have worned into the  rock.  It was very large and very good. and there was a lot to see.  A highlight.  There did seem to be an inordinate length of time spent in the red light district.by large crowds.  One of the images is that of amummified dog. I am a bit surprised at some of the areas that they do let tourists into.  Some of the buildings would have been amazing. This was a highlight.
