Said goodbye to most of the 75 people on our two buses with
just 13 going to Normandie + Major –General O’Brien, who is leading the group,
and his lovely wife Margaret. Strangely
enough there were only 3 guys in the group. Travelling west of Paris is was a
bit more hillier than what we had encountered north-east of Paris.
Our first stop was the impressionist artist Claude Monet’s garden.
It was a lovely enclosed Norman garden
that except for the roses and water lilies, it was in flower. The garden, Japanese bridge and the lily pond
were beautiful. It was a good time to visit not too crowded although we did
have to queue to enter his house. The
house was full of copies of his work as they would have been and we were both
impressed with his yellow cottage kitchen.
It began to drizzle and we were safe once we got into the Giverney Impressionism
Museum. It was all very interesting but
by the time we wanted to leave it had begun to rain so we got a little wet. We then arrived at our hotel in Rouen. The
weather up to this point has been exceptional.
