Day 63 24 May Koln-Prague
Arriving in Prague about 9.30AM we were able to negotiate
our way out of train station and apart from one wrong turn we were able to go
straight there in a 20 minute walk.
Elizabeth was impressed that I could tell a tourist immediately where
the train station was. Arriving at the Art Deco Imperial Hotel about 10 AM we
hoped to leave our bags there as usually it is not a check-in until 3PM. The
hotel was WOW! – all wonderfully decorated.
The good news was that they had our reservation, the bad news was that a
burst water pipe meant that an entire floor was unusable.
The concierge, named Martin, was most apologetic and
arranged a transfer for one night to a nearby hotel 5 star hotel, organised an
immediate check-in and upgrade to a suite.
We “reluctantly” allowed them to put our baggage in the Mercedes limousine
to take us there. When we return to the
hotel they are going to organise a return limo and he is going to look after us
when we return – the price we pay!
Oh goodness…I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
Checking out the free tea an coffee. You can see one of the two TVs in the suite.
We had our own Hall of Mirrors connecting the bathroom to the rest of the suite.
The bath tap looks like it escaped from Versailles.
After lunch we visited the Mucha Museum, the artist who created
the Art-Nouveau movement which was quite interesting and across the road from
our temporary hotel called strangely enough…Art Nouveau Palace.
The internet here is the best we have had so far so we are
trying to upload as much as possible. I
will upload photos from our visit to Gallipoli and the Dawn Service.
