We left Lucerne late but before we did we saw the
beautifully but poignant statue of the lion that commemorated the loss of the
Swiss Guard who died defending the French King in 1792. Driving through lowland Switzerland was quite
picturesque. We now enter France and we have a bus and walking tour of the city
which has a lovely medieval centre. As
part of Alsace-Loraine it has changed hands several times between France and
Germany. The hotel room had no air
conditioning and with the window open it was quite noisy…oh the sirens! I’m
glad it wasn’t a Friday or Saturday night.
